About Ikebana International – Portland Chapter
The members of the Ikebana International Portland, Oregon Chapter 47 come from the greater Portland/Vancouver area. Currently, the members represent five Schools of Ikebana: Ikenobo, Ohara, Ryusei Ha, Saga Goryu and Sogetsu. Between September and June, the Chapter holds four meetings. The program includes, but is not limited to Ikebana demonstrations. We welcome visitors. An ikebana exhibition by each School and a group exhibition by the Chapter, the Chrysanthemum Show, are held annually at the Japanese Garden for the public. Over the course of a year, Chapter members visit school classrooms and participate in community events to provide demonstrations or hands-on learning activities. These continuous efforts by the Chapter, to cultivate and perpetuate Ikebana, are dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Ellen Gordon Allen, founder of Ikebana International and to the memory of Mrs. Morris Schnitzer, founder of Portland Chapter 47.
